Jagrit
Three and a half years at HSBC taught me one thing clearly: the most interesting problems live at the edge of technology and business, not inside either one. I spent that time building internal platforms, not because I was told to, but because I genuinely enjoy the process: finding where something is broken, brainstorming with sharp people, and building something that quietly makes someone's workday easier. Promoted to Senior Software Engineer in 2.5 years, first in my cohort, but realised I wanted to understand the full picture, not just the technical slice of it. XLRI felt like the right place to build that business foundation, so I could eventually sit at the intersection of technology and strategy, solving problems that are bigger than any one function. Still figuring out exactly where that lands, consulting, product, or something in between, but the thread running through all of it is the same: innovate, build, make it matter.

Career highlights
Senior Software Engineer, HSBC Technology India
- Identified a critical operational risk across 160+ file dependencies with no centralised visibility, causing SLA breaches and downstream client impact. Designed and delivered a real-time monitoring platform adopted by the operations team, improving SLA adherence by ~30% and cutting manual tracking effort by ~50%.
- Prototyped AI/NLP chatbot with intent recognition & function mapping, enabling plain-language platform access.
- Recognised fragmented portfolio reporting as a decision-making bottleneck for senior leadership. Built an automated roadmap and portfolio visualisation tool, reducing reporting effort by 70%, eliminating manual workflows entirely, and enabling real-time visibility across multiple projects for senior stakeholders.
- Led the productisation of a technically functional but commercially inaccessible platform, reframing it as a self-serve umbrella product unifying third-party data vendors (Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and others) under a single governed platform. Designed and delivered the end-to-end product layer including self-serve onboarding, cost prediction, and license governance, reducing onboarding time from 3–4 days to 10–15 minutes and closing a vendor licensing governance gap causing unintended client billing.
- Mapped regulatory reporting gaps across internal teams and external clients to address compliance risk in financial reporting cycles. Designed a structured data platform for fund-level data upload, validation, and retrieval, improving accuracy and turnaround for both internal and client-facing reporting.
- Proactively partnered with a cross-functional team outside own pod to design a configuration-driven UI/UX for the Pelican billing automation system across 15 products and delivered an Entity Management solution improving client data governance, demonstrating initiative, design ownership, and cross-team delivery.
