PGDM(GM) Alumnae Roundtable 2021



The PGDM(GM) batch of 21' at XLRI, Jamshedpur conducted the Women Alumni Roundtable on 09 January 2021 where the topic "Thought Leadership, Resilience, and Breaking the Glass Ceiling" was discussed at length.

The panel made up of esteemed alumni from XLRI - women leaders who have shot their way up in the corporate ladder and paved the way for students to come.

The first panellist was Ms Shrabani Bera, Program Manager at Knowledge Podium Systems who had graduated from XLRI in 2013-14. She has worn multiple hats in her career journey ranging from being a Freelance Marketing and Program Management Consultant to being an Account Director and handling Business Development. She shared her insights on the importance of women leadership in the corporate and how mentoring is an important step in the career of all management students. Her views were supported and endorsed by Ms Divvya Shettyy who was the second panellist. Divvya graduated in Business Management program 2011-13 and is working as the Customer Success Manager at Blue Yonder. Ms Shetty is also a Governing Council Member of the Indian Academy Group of Institutions. Her 15 years of experience in the industry is synonymous with excellence in corporate communication, management executive support, human relations, event management, and office administration. She gave us valuable insights into her journey and spoke at length about the importance of cracking the right balance between personal & professional life.

This was also followed up by Ms Charanya Balasubramanian, an XLRI PGDM(GM) graduate of the year 2013-14. As our third panellist, Charanya shared her experience in the industry where she is working as an analyst and currently is the Product Marketing Manager for Freshworks. In her XLRI years, she was the secretary of Xlerate and was a key figure in organizing marketing events at an all-India level. Her expertise in the fields of Product Management and Marketing were very well received by the audience. She also spoke about her views on the glass ceiling concerning the minority group majorly women in India's case.

The Class Representatives of the General Management batch of 20-21, Shilpi Sinha and Surbhi Gupta moderated the discussion and discussed at length the career paths of these alumni and how they are an inspiration for the entire cohort of 20-21. This was followed by a question-and-answer session, where the audience asked several questions on the biases that people face in the corporate and how we can use the management curriculum to broaden our horizons and be better leaders. The session was concluded where the panellists shared their word of advice on what students should take away from the MBA and how XLRI is instrumental in the holistic development of the careers of these alumni.
