The career development committee of the 2023-24 batch is a highly skilled team of 12 individuals from rich & diverse professional backgrounds. The CDC's primary objective is to empower our fellow students and assist them in preparing for the competitive job market. We firmly believe that with the right guidance and access to critical resources, every student can excel in interviews and secure their dream job.

The CDC recognizes that a well-crafted resume is the key to grabbing the attention of potential employers. Therefore, one of our core activities is resume preparation. Our team works closely with students to help them craft a tailored resume as per their strengths, skills, and accomplishments.

Mock interviews are another vital component of our committee's activities. We understand that interviews can be daunting, especially for students who may have limited prior experience. To address this, the CDC helps organize mock interview sessions with industry experts, simulating real interview scenarios, allowing students to familiarize themselves with the interview process and gain valuable experience. In addition to resume preparation and mock interviews, the CDC is committed to providing students with the right preparation materials. We understand that comprehensive and relevant resources play a crucial role in enabling success. XLRI Jamshedpur, PGDM (GM) programme boasts a culturally-diverse, vibrant, and large alumni community. The elected committee ensures community outreach by connecting, engaging, and celebrating that rich cultural heritage.

The annual festival known as the Alumni Conclave, provides a unique opportunity for the alumni to live and kindle their XL spirits all over again, allowing the Alumnus to reminisce about the time spent together and also providing the current GMP batch an opportunity of a lifetime to interact with the community. It is a nostalgic way for Alumni to relive the XL journey and is generally a free-flowing event where they get a chance to interact with the faculty members and the entire cohort. A fun-filled event full of smiles, laughter, bonhomie, and bonding, the Annual PGDM (GM) Alumni Meet has gone from strength to strength, growing bigger and better with each passing year. The event consists of a confluence of batch and Alumni sharing a myriad of memories, professor talks, special events, and networking opportunities fostering great bonding and strengthening ties between the Alumni with their alma mater. The event is fervently hosted by the Alumni Committee each year. Through this initiative the Alumni committee is passionate about:

In many ways, branding can be likened to gardening, where six highly skilled elected Committee members act as dedicated gardeners. They possess not only an aesthetic sense but also a deep commitment to deliver on promises with utmost sincerity and dedication.

Since its inception, the Committee's primary focus has been on crafting an exceptional annual PGDM (GM) brochure. This brochure serves as a comprehensive resource for potential recruiters, providing them with a clear understanding of the current cohort. The Committee strives to highlight the batch profile, showcasing the diverse backgrounds and in-demand niche skill sets that align with market trends. The Academic Committee plays a vital role in representing students and promoting inclusivity within their academic environment. As intermediaries between students and administrative offices, they act as essential links, ensuring effective communication and addressing student concerns. The Class representatives serve as the first point of contact for problem resolution, making them crucial for maintaining a harmonious relationship between students and the academic faculty.

As the first elects, the committee is also responsible to conduct fair and just elections/selections of other Committees ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities from the outgoing batch to the new one. Class representatives are valuable assets to their peers, showcasing exceptional leadership skills and promoting inclusivity. They excel as exceptional managers for the cohort and, effectively communicate student concerns, prioritizing the overall well-being. CEASE Committee (cease@xlri.ac.in) :

Committee for Awareness, Sensitization and Empowerment (CEASE - cease@xlri.ac.in) is the only committee that works across PGDM (GM), BM & HRM. The 20 core committee members are selected from the collective group of all batches of BM, HRM and GM which includes 4 members from PGDM (GM). The committee acts as a medium between the students and the CASH (Committee against sexual harassment - cash.com@xlri.ac.in), which is an internal complaints (IC) committee constituted under the sexual harassment of women at the workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. CASH has the same powers as vested in a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 in respect of summoning and enforcing any person's attendance and examining him on oath; inquiring the discovery and production of documents; and any other matter which may be prescribed. We help students come forward and help them with the process of filing a complaint with CASH and are committed to maintaining the confidentiality of:

  • The identity and address of the aggrieved person, respondent & witness
  • Information relating to conciliation and inquiry proceedings.

We invite experienced POSH (prevention of sexual harassment act) consultants, workplace diversity advisors, lawyers, psychologists, and counsellors to conduct sensitization workshops to educate the students and faculty to help understand the difference between harassment and sexual harassment, legal framework, the scope of POSH applicability, how to ensure clarity in communications both online and offline to enable the campus to be inclusive, diverse and gender-neutral. CEASE organizes several events & competitions on Men's Day, Women's Day and hosts interactive sessions & guest lectures to discuss pertinent issues surrounding human rights and diversity

The Corporate Competition Committee (CCC) is an associate committee to the esteemed Placement Committee at XLRI, Jamshedpur, representing our 1-year flagship MBA equivalent program PGDM (GM). CCC plays a pivotal role in orchestrating and managing national-level competitions within the XLRI campus, acting as the driving force for the talented and ambitious PGDM (GM) participants.

In addition to its core organizing responsibilities, CCC is dedicated to keeping the PGDM (GM) batch well-informed about ongoing competitions hosted by renowned B-Schools nationwide and prominent corporate entities. "The Conclave Committee, in partnership with the Placement Committee, is dedicated to organizing a series of theme-based conclaves in various domains during the academic year 2023-24.

In addition, the Conclave committee partners with the alumni committee, E-cell committee & Kautilya consulting club for organizing their respective events throughout the year.

These conclaves will focus on key areas such as Human Resources, Consulting, E-commerce, Information Technology/Business Analytics, Supply Chain Management, and Startups.

The primary objective of these conclaves is to enhance business school–corporate collaborations and foster strong relationships between the two. One of the key goals of the Conclave Team is to increase the visibility of the PGDM (GM) Class of 2023-24 among corporate recruiters. By hosting theme-based conclaves, the team hopes to showcase the talents, skills, and capabilities of the students to potential employers. This increased visibility can help students stand out during the campus placement process and attract more job opportunities.

The broad roles & responsibilities of the committee include:

The objective of the CPC is to integrate classroom learning into a practical experience by facilitating the students to work on live industry projects. We aim to foster a culture that promotes learning and collaboration between the industry and future leaders. CPC acts as bridge between the students and the industry to create a platform where both gain from each other. While students get a chance gain invaluable insights into the real-world business challenges faced by the industry; companies get an opportunity to get their problems evaluated from an open mindset where students bring their unique perspective to solve the problem in a way that couldn’t have been otherwise. The 5-member committee is a student-driven initiative under the guidance of the Convenor - Placements Prof. A Kanagaraj. The committee's main responsibilities include:

  • Actively seeking suitable live projects for the batch from industry partners and organizations.
  • Coordinating and managing the project selection and allocation process.
  • Acting as a liaison between students and project providers, facilitating communication and defining project objectives.
  • Providing support and guidance to students throughout the project duration, including assigning mentors if necessary.
  • Monitoring project progress, conducting reviews, and addressing any challenges or roadblocks.
  • Evaluating the impact and effectiveness of the live project initiatives, collecting feedback, and maintaining a portfolio of successful projects.

Through their efforts, the committee ensures that students are well-prepared and equipped with the necessary skills and experiences to thrive in their future careers.

Over the years XLRI’s PGDM(GM) students have been actively engaging with various industries through the live projects and taking on some complex challenges and ultimately delivering results beyond expectations. Some of the key projects handled by students in the past have been related to Market Research, Product management, HR, Sales & Marketing, Digital Marketing, Strategy, Financial analysis, Risk Assessment, Equity research, etc.

The rich functional experience of the cohort enables us to offer specialized services to find unique solutions to industry challenges. AURACIA-The Aura of Oration :

An idea that originated from the original founders of this club, is that the art of communication has the power to change the world, and “AURACIA-The Aura of Oration” comes with a vision, to influence, inspire and teach people how to communicate, with confidence and comfort. The first-ever public speaking and communications club of XLRI, Jamshedpur. With a refreshed belief “Communicate with Comfort” focuses upon creating effective communicators of tomorrow who are at ease transforming their ideas into words.

Only in its nascent stages, the club activities focus on improving public speaking, building leadership like writing, fostering the art of interpersonal interactions to gain a competitive advantage in the workplace, and maximizing potential by improving self-confidence. To add to that, the club wants people to foster a love for language by inculcating the age-old passion for communication by incorporating philosophical discussions, a passion for poetry and literary passion!

The club not only provides a platform for individuals to express their passion for public speaking but also actively engages in initiatives aimed at training its members to improve their ability to articulate themselves during interviews and discussions in various public settings. Additionally, the club focuses on helping individuals overcome anxiety and enhance their impromptu speaking skills. Rooted in the responsibilities of consultants towards their clients and the objective of driving wealth creation, the club strives to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge to become the problem solvers and leaders of tomorrow.

At the heart of the Kautilya Consulting Club (KCC) is a dedicated group of six core members who embrace the philosophy of student involvement. To prepare students for consulting roles, KCC organizes a wide array of learning and development activities.
