The event began with an Inaugural Address by Shilpita Panigrahy, student of XLRI Jamshedpur, who welcomed the guest speaker, Mr. Amish Mehta. Rituparna Singh along with Nischal offered a bouquet.

The session’s guest was Mr. Amish Mehta, Managing Director and CEO at Crisil.

Amish Mehta is the Managing Director and CEO of CRISIL Limited. He leads efforts to deliver value through best-in-class analytics, solutions, and opinions to companies, investors, financial institutions, policy makers and governments, both in India and worldwide. Amish joined CRISIL in October 2014 as President and Chief Financial Officer, and in 2017, was named Chief Operating Officer. As the COO, He led CRISIL’s acquisitions and change agenda, while creating a growth path for the businesses he managed. Prior to joining CRISIL, Amish was the Chief Financial Officer of Indus Towers. He has rich experience of over two decades in telecommunications, oil and gas, FMCG and business advisory services, and has held leadership roles in diverse organisations, including BP/Castrol India, E&Y and ExxonMobil India.

He is a member of FICCI’s Capital Markets Committee, CII National Committee on Financial Markets, and SEBI Primary Markets Advisory Committee (PMAC). He is a Chartered Accountant and holds a bachelor’s in commerce.

Mr. Amish spoke about how now the time is different compared to earlier such periods, one of the examples he gave was of inflation that today inflation is high in developed countries compared to developing countries. He also explained how today developed economies are facing more slowdown compared to the emerging economies. He also shared his own life journey, how he had confidence and after all ups and downs he became the CEO. He suggested that we all should have confidence in our self and we should believe in our own capabilities and maintain a healthy life style which can help us to stay stress free. He also said we all should have patience and faith in ourselves to tackle any situation in our career. On being asked how Crisil is planning to cope up with the recession, he said that Crisil is fortunate to be in such line of businesses that are recession free such as ratings, evaluation of companies etc. Even in recession we need to evaluate what is happening with the companies and what is the current scenario of the market, what are the issues with supply chain or what are the pain points. Crisil was having more work during pandemic. He also spoke about the future of risk analytics, how globally every company is asking for it specially after pandemic when supply chain came in to the main stream and people started talking about it, risk analytics and understanding of the portfolio is more important now then earlier. He also spoke about his goals and vision in the next 2-3 years and how we can create an opportunities to grow by leveraging the knowledge base and the workforce and the developing technology. With the changing expectations and world, Crisil is also evolving with technology on the same time.

The session proceeded with a few questions from the audience about Crisil and latest trends in the market. Mr. Amish Mehta put forth his end notes on motivating the batch to believe in themselves and they will achieve all the goals. He threw some light on its unbeatable journey and tailoring its way to a promising future in the upcoming years.

The session was ended by vote of thanks by Bharath R, XLRI Jamshedpur and Mr. Amish Mehta were offered memento by Prof. Kanagaraj Ayyalusamy.
