Preventive measures to combat Covid spread at XLRI

06th january, 2022

Jamshedpur, 6 Jan: In the light of a spike in Covid 19 cases in the steel city, the XLRI Administration in collaboration with East Singhbhum District Administration, had conducted random tests on resident students. RTPCR reports indicate that 22 students have reported positive. 100+ tests have been conducted and reports are awaited. The Institute has taken a proactive approach under the XLRI Policy for Covid-19 and Similar Pandemic, 2021, by creating Isolation areas within the Campus to combat, contain and manage the spread of the infections related to Covid-19.

Students who tested positive are isolated in the MDP Residence of the Campus with self-contained rooms and room service facilities. Medical supplies, food and counselling services are also provided by the Institute by following the mandatory guidelines and directions issued by the Government of Jharkhand. Such Isolation facility located at MDP area was today inspected by the District Administration. MDP Residence area is declared containment zone within the XLRI campus.

Though the isolated RTPCR positive students are showing mild symptoms and are doing well the XLRI administration is monitoring the situation closely to ensure full recovery and rule out any chance of spread.

Advisories are also issued by the XLRI administration to other campus residents to strictly follow social distancing, wear masks and comply with the Institute policy on Covid 19 and the directions of the Government of Jharkhand. Apart from the advisories issued students tested negative have been asked to vacate the campus. Students have already started vacating the campus to their respective homes following Covid safety protocols.
