8th National HR Conference at XLRI Jamshedpur on 19th and 20th January 2019

XLRI has been known as a pioneer in the field of Human Resources and Industrial Relations in India, since its inception in 1949. To celebrate this long-standing culture of integrity and professionalism, Students Association for Promotion of Personnel Management, Human Resources and Industrial Relations (SAPPHIRE), is conducting the 8th National HR conference at XLRI, Jamshedpur on 19th and 20th of January, 2019.

The intent is to provide a platform for the bigwigs from various industries, academicians and legal practitioners to discuss and debate on the various challenges in India’s changing HR landscape, on the lines of this year’s theme: "Building an Agile Future: Curating the new business landscape". The organizations today are aligning, adjusting, and accommodating the diverse and evolving workforce and while dealing with the conflicting currents of the expansionary scope of technology and the restrictive nature of anti-globalisation movements. So as the workforce prepares itself to usher in these times of change, XLRI is providing the perfect platform for HR leaders across the length and breadth of the country to congregate along with the brightest HR minds from the best institutions to deliberate and provide new perspectives to view and provide solutions to problems and opportunities of the future.

The two panel discussions planned as a part of the 2-day event are on "Tailoring HR Strategy according to the changing times & technology" and "Breaking the glass ceiling- workforce diversity amidst changing professional climate". The keynote speaker for this year is Dr. Aquil Busrai, CEO Aquil Busrai Consulting.

The deliberations in two panel discussions will be done by industry pundits like Mr Kshitij Kashyap (Head Human Capital, India - Optum), Mr. Amit Vaish (Director & Head HR, Barclays India) , Mr. Krishna Setlur (Executive & Business Coach, HR Consultant), Mr. Shubhenjit Chaudhuri (MD, Tata Pigments), Mr. Sujitesh Das (VP and Head, Global HR Strategy, Microland), Mr. S Naga Siddharth, (CHRO and Head Teacher Engagement - Vedantu) in panel 1 and Ms. Sinjini Sengupta (Author, Columnist, Erstwhile Actuary), Mr. Rajesh Hurkat (Head HR - South Asia, Mattel Inc), Ms. Sujata Deshmukh (Former CEO, OD Alternatives), Mr. Tarun Anand (Founder, Universal Business School), Mr. Sumit Neogi (VP HR, Reliance Industries Limited), Ms. Shalini Lal (Founder, Infinity OD), Ms. Kavita Sadhu Senior (Director, HR, Capgemini) and Mr. Mukul Jain (Founder & CEO, HONO) in panel 2.

This year XLRI is bringing together students from the top B-schools of the country, delegates from various industries, academicians & legal practitioners to witness the deliberations. The panel discussions will be followed by paper presentations on - Managing Organizational Climate and Sustaining high performing employees and workshops on Compensation & Benefits and Performance Management Systems by Mr. Avijit Shastri and on "Change Management: avoiding common reasons why change efforts fail" by Ms. Sujata Deshmukh. The grand finale of the annual HR quizzing league of SAPPHIRE- Battle HR Royale and a three legged event- HR Triathlon is a special attraction for the students.
