XLRI Celebrates Daan Utsav: Jamshedpur JoyFest 2019

2nd October, 2019

Daan Utsav (formerly known as The Joy of Giving Week - http://www.DaanUtsav.org/ ) is a public "festival of philanthropy", which was launched across India in 2009, to celebrate and promote various acts of giving – money, time, resources and skills. The event is celebrated in more than across India, and last year (2018) millions of people had participated in more than 1500 events and initiatives across more than 200 cities.

XLRI- Xavier School of Management has been celebrating this festival in Jamshedpur as Daan Utsav: Jamshedpur JoyFest since 2009 in partnership with schools, NGOs, corporates and civil society organisations.

Daan Utsav is celebrated every year in the seek starting from Gandhi Jayanti, October 2nd. In the past many schools in the city (e.g., bagh-e-Jamsheed, JH Tarapore, MNPS, etc.), NGOs (SEEDS, Kalamandir, Jharkhand HRD Center, etc.), and corporate organisations (e.g., Tata Steel, Timken, Tata Power, Tata Cummins, etc.) and ordinary citizens of the city had participated in the Jamshedpur JoyFest.

Like earlier years, this year too one of the main initiative is the "Donate for Dignity" under which XLRI volunteers will be collecting and distributing material and resources for the less-privileged segments of the society.

Due to the Puja holidays, this year the drive will continue from Oct 2nd till Oct 20th.

The following are some of the key collection and distribution initiatives which are planned across the city. The Collection Center is located in XLRI Campus.
