SOCRATES - Society for the Rapid Assimilation of Technology and Systems

Vision

In the 21st century, Technology is the prime driver of change. The aim of systems education in XLRI is to provide the future mangers in-depth knowledge of the technologies that can be used for decision making and competing in highly dynamic environment.

Objectives

The systems courses in XLRI are designed to fulfill two main objectives

To familiarize the upcoming managers with the basic software concepts and emerging computer technology.

To give them insights into how technology will affect the different business processes in future and equip them with tools and concepts to manage the high tech organizations of future. Therefore at present there is a judicious mix of courses like Management information Systems, Database management systems, which provide basic understanding of information systems and courses like E-commerce, Internet and Computer Communication systems, which provide information about latest developments and future trends in the area of Information Technology.

Student Association

SOCRATES (The Society for Rapid Assimilation of Technology and Systems) is a student’s initiative to provide a thrust to the Systems academic area and to upgrade the IT infrastructure in XLRI. SOCRATES is a medium to bring technology closer to the global business leaders of tomorrow. The aim is to provide a platform where future managers can gain experience from real-life issues and problems in systems. We are responsible not only to update the Systems Course curriculum to keep the students abreast of emerging trends and technologies, but also to conduct workshops, seminars, guest lectures, live IT consultancy projects, etc.
